Music
Our ambition for Music education:
At the Skylark Federation, our music curriculum intends to inspire creativity, self-expression and encourages our students on their musical journeys as well as giving them opportunities to connect with others. We hope to foster a lifelong love of music by exposing them to diverse musical experiences and igniting a passion for music. By listening and responding to different musical styles, finding their voices as singers and performers and as composers, all will be enabled to become confident, reflective musicians.
Schemes of learning
We use the curriculum provider KAPOW to teach music. The produced schemes of learning to ensure that our music curriculum is effectively planned and sequenced. Schemes are based on a clear progression in skills and knowledge. They provide teachers with the key objectives, prior learning, future learning, key vocabulary, assessment indicators, common misconceptions, and ideas for teaching and gathering evidence of learning they need to help us ensure that our music curriculum is implemented effectively and produces students who can demonstrate proficiency in the subject.
We access the Listen 2 Me Music service provided by Hampshire County Council.
This ensures that all of our children receive direct instruction on a range of musical
instruments throughout their time at Skylark Federation. This is weaved in with our use of Kapow Primary curriculum for music.
